Chiropractic is the healing art that focuses on the health of the whole person by primarily addressing the integrity of the human spine and neuromusculoskeletal system—the “frame” of the body. Chiropractic seeks to achieve its goal of correcting and preventing neuromusculoskeletal problems without the use of surgery or pharmaceuticals.
In Dr. Eha’s practice, there are three primary reasons for his focus on the overall health of the human frame:
- You use the frame of your body for virtually everything you do. A loss of normal function in any part of your frame affects your performance and your quality of life—at work, at home, and during recreation. A healthy frame is essential for a healthy life.
- You should be able to enjoy normal activities throughout your life, even as you age. However, the demands of life can have a detrimental impact on the health of your neuromusculoskeletal system, making some activities difficult, especially over time. Proper attention to the health of your frame throughout your life is the best strategy for sustaining normal function as you age. A healthy frame is essential for healthy aging.
- The health of your frame is intimately linked with your overall health. An important interplay exists between the function of the human frame and the health of other body systems, including circulation, digestion, breathing, mood, and even brain function. A healthy frame is essential for a healthy “you.”
These principles apply for individuals of all ages, including infants, children, and the elderly.
In the past, chiropractic mostly emphasized restoration of normal joint mechanics through the use of specific manipulation. While this remains a major part of chiropractic’s therapeutic focus, it is now known that not all forms of neuromusculoskeletal malfunction can be corrected with joint manipulation. Some types of malfunction require different methods of specific hands-on treatment. Moreover, instruction and supervision in appropriate self-care is essential to the maintenance of a healthy neuromusculoskeletal system.
Chiropractic continues to mature as a profession. It continues to address neuromusculoskeletal issues as well as other issues of whole person health. Its purpose is to help each patient achieve and maintain a healthy frame and good health throughout their life.
